Democracy, literally, rule by the people.
The term democracy is derived from the Greek dēmokratiā, which was coined from dēmos (“people”) and kratos (“rule”) in 507 BCE to denote the political systems then existing in some Greek city-states, notably Athens.
If some people in the 6th century could have real participatory democracy, then today everyone can have it with modern technology. It just takes you to demand it from your local politician.
Right to Initiate and Vote on Bills
Many Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) that you elect, do not even read the bills before the government as they are undemocratically whipped into voting the way the Premier wants them to vote.
This means much of the legislation in Alberta is not given good thought. Giving people the legalized right to vote on bills before the government using an electronic device or other ensures thousands of other ordinary Albertans will have the opportunity to read the bills for a better "second sober thought" which does not occur now.
There is far more intelligence in our society than there is in our government and that intelligence needs to be utilized in order to create a better government for Albertans.
Albertans would like the freedom of choice and right to initiate and vote on government bills so they can assist in making better legislation or laws. This is what better Government by the people for the people looks like.
Your Vote Your Way
The best way to hold our government accountable is to legalize your right to vote on government bills as well as citizen-initiated legislation. This will result in real participatory democracy.
Make way for real (direct participatory) democracy in Alberta and Canada. The time for a better political system that keeps politicians in check has long passed. You deserve expanded rights and better government that utilizes the great minds of Albertans in a real democracy.
Albertans Need to Get Involved
To turn Alberta around, Albertans need the freedom of choice to make the decisions that affect their own lives rather than continuing with anti-democratic political parties making poor decisions for you.
For Albertans like you to make the decisions, together we need to legalize your right to vote on government bills before the Legislative Assembly using some sort of electronic device or other as well as giving Albertans the right to introduce citizen-initiated legislation.
This will be a made in Alberta process designed by Albertans who will be able to form their government in any way they wish under the context of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms as well as the Constitution.
